| Fire crew survey
the charred remains of the 1937 Alvis 4.3 Charlesworth Saloon
of Stan Williams/Tony Davies, which caught fire about 20 miles
before Oban on Thursday afternoon. The car was quickly ablaze
and though fire extinguishers were to hand, it was not possible
to contain the fire. The crew had been in line for a Silver Medal
placing at the time of their enforced retirement, and were part
of the Alvis Triangles Marque Team battling it out with the TR
"Sidecreeners" for the Talisker Tophy. Both Stan and
Tony reacted quickly enough to escape unharmed. |
